This course is intended to help the student understand the essential elements of Church Membership.

Course Overview

This course on Church Membership is an essential starting place for anyone interested in how the Church is supposed to operate according to Scripture. It goes through themes such as the purpose of the Church, the leadership of the Church, membership in the Church and a number of other essential ecclesiastical issues. This course is ideal for the new convert who is looking to join a Church as well as the seasoned saint who is eager to lead the Church according to a Biblical pattern.

After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Bible from Temple Baptist College, Dr. Murphy came to TMS. During his M.Div. studies, he served as a pastoral intern under Dr. Stuart Scott at Grace Community Church. He is currently serving as the Pastor/Teacher of Roosevelt Community Church in Lancaster, CA—a ministry position that he has fulfilled since May 2000. While in ministry there, he completed two additional post graduate degrees from The Master’s Seminary including a Doctor of Theology in Old Testament studies under Dr. William Barrick. He joined the seminary faculty full time in July of 2011.
