The Expository Preaching and Pastoral Ministry program focuses on biblical exegesis and expository preaching by having students regularly work at interpreting and preaching the various genres of Scripture.
Overview
The Expository Preaching & Pastoral Ministry Program consists of six semesters of instruction that must be completed in consecutive order. During each semester, students will attend lectures and workshops as well as complete reading and writing assignments that are focused on accurate interpretation and communication of God’s Word.
Most semesters also include preaching labs in which each student prepares two 30-minute sermons and preaches them before the class. The instructor and the other students then provide feedback. Finally, during each semester, students will participate in a discipleship group where they will read and discuss a book related to pastoral ministry, spiritual growth, or leadership.
The residential program takes three years to complete with one semester beginning in January and the other in July. TEA also teaches this program in an intensive, modular format in which the students attend lectures for 5 consecutive days from 8am-5pm and then submit homework in the weeks following. This program is only open to men in order to honor God’s instructions in 1 Timothy 2:12.
