Course Overview
Because the local church serves as God’s primary agency for Christian worship and spiritual growth, Shepherding Leadership sets a foundation by which to translate the needs of the local church into relevant application for pastoral ministry. Whether this application is demonstrated by public ministries in the pulpit, in the evangelistic and educational ministries of the church, in the ordinances and ceremonies of the church, in church worship and music, in administrative leadership in the church, or by the more private modeling of personal godliness, careful and prayerful preparation is necessary. This course provides a foundation to integrate pastoral concerns and responsibilities with regard to church leaders by examining the requirements and offices to serve in the church through the means of marriage, weddings and funerals, and other church ordinances.
This course is taken completely online, on-demand (at your own pace), but is designed to be taken over 10 weeks. The student should plan to allocate 2-3 hours each week to gain the most from the course. This includes approximately 60 minutes of pre-recorded video lectures and notetaking, 30-60 minutes of reading, and time for review, reflection, and quizzes.
